Does your group need an entertaining and informative lecture on birds, or a bird walk?
Each year, Dan Gleason is an invited speaker giving lectures and teaching workshops about birds and the natural world. A frequent guest at schools, clubs and organizations throughout the Northwest, Dan enjoys sharing his knowledge and interest in birds and the natural world. The author of Birds! From The Inside Out, an introductory textbook about birds, and its successor, due in Fall of 2006, Birds! Life on the Wing, he also writes a monthly column called Backyard Habitats, for Eugene’s major newspaper, The Register Guard. See the Links page for Acrobat pdf downloads of his articles.
After 30 years with the University of Oregon's Biology Department, he retired in January 2004, though he returns each summer to teach Field Ornithology. Dan has served on the Board of Directors of Lane County Audubon Society for many years where he has held numerous roles and is currently Education Coordinator. Environmental education is especially important to him and he has remained actively involved in such educational efforts throughout the Eugene area by giving lectures, leading field trips, offering workshops, conducting volunteer guide training and pursuing related activities.
His lectures provide information about birds in a fun and entertaining manner and they are always very well received.
