Barbara Gleason, principal partner of CraneDance Publications and BGleason Design & Illustration, LLC, has been designing printed materials for over 25 years, including books, booklets, newsletters, and magazines, and she enjoys helping small to medium-sized companies establish their unique "look." Dan Gleason is the author of Birds! From The Inside Out, an introductory textbook about birds, illustrated by Barbara Gleason. He is a retired faculty member of the Biology Department at the University of Oregon, and returns each year to teach the Field Ornithology course.
He teaches community courses for those interested in learning more about birds and the natural world, writes a monthly column, Backyard Habitats, for Eugene’s major newspaper, The Register Guard, and is a frequent guest speaker at schools, clubs and organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest where he enjoys sharing his knowledge and interest in birds and the natural world.
Dan has served on the Board of Directors of Lane County Audubon Society where he has held numerous positions; he is past president of Oregon Field Ornithologists, and he volunteers at Cascades Raptor Center in Eugene, providing instruction about birds to their staff, volunteers and public. Dan has been actively involved in environmental education throughout his life, leading field trips, workshops and volunteer trainings.
